Feed and Nutritional Management Cow College to Feature International Satellite Videoconference of NRC's 2001 Update on Nutrient Requirements of Dairy Cattle

.The new Nutrient Requirements of Dairy Cattle will be released on January 16 and 17, 2001. The satellite videoconference will originate from Iowa State University and be available on campus at Virginia Tech. This will be the first release of the new requirements and the program is for those working with dairy rations and formulation software. Topics will include energy and protein utilization for growth and reproduction, models for estimating energy and amino acid requirements, minimizing nutrient excretion, and using the new NRC nutritional software. NRC Committee members will address the group via satellite downlink and be available to answer questions relayed from downlink sites. In addition there will be a local computer demonstration of the feed composition and table generator along with a workshop with examples. Virginia Tech Dairy Science faculty will facilitate the Virginia Tech site. We will be limited on space for this event so register early. All attendees will receive the new NRC publication.
