Beef Quality Assurance (BQA) Certified Producers Participate in Survey

Livestock Update, July 2006

John B. Hall, Extension Animal Scientist, Beef, Virginia Tech

Over 3,400 BQA Certified producers in Virginia have received surveys to assess the impact of the Mid-Atlantic Beef Quality Assurance program on beef operations in the region. This brief survey will provide information on how the program can be improved and how BQA is affecting day to day operations. In addition, it will give Extension Specialists the approximate number of cattle covered by BQA in Virginia.

“Producers response to the survey has been strong”, noted John Hall, Extension Beef Cattle Specialist at Virginia Tech. Almost 1/3 of the surveys have been returned. “We would like to remind producers that these surveys are critical to making improvements in the BQA program, so we need as many surveys completed and returned as possible.” Hall wants producers to know that it is not too late to return completed surveys.
