Sheep Update: 1999 Virginia Ram Lamb Performance Test

The 1999 Virginia Ram Lamb Performance Test will be conducted at the Shenandoah Valley Agriculture Research Station in Steeles Tavern. Ram lambs born September, 1998 through February, 1999 will be eligible. Rams will be delivered the first week in May, and after a two-week adjustment period will be performance tested for 63 days. The sale for eligible rams will be held on Saturday, August 28. Registered rams of all breeds are eligible, as well as crossbred rams.

The Virginia Performance Tested Ram Lamb Sale has been an excellent source of quality rams for commercial flocks. In 1998, rams sold for an average of $278. Consignment deadline in April 15.
