Dave Lamie Joins the Agricultural and Applied Economics Department

Dave Lamie recently joined the Department of Agricultural and Applied Economics at Virginia Tech where he will have Extension and Applied Research responsibilities in rural development. Dave just completed his Ph.D. in Applied Economics at Clemson University where he analyzed the South Carolina forest products manufacturing industry. Prior to that, he was a State Extension Specialist in rural development at Purdue University. He received both his B.S. and M.S. from Purdue in Agricultural Economics. Dave will be taking over the direction of the use-value project for agricultural lands and supporting other Extension and applied research efforts of the department. He is looking forward to becoming acquainted with Extension field staff and others around the state who are in need of rural community/economic development assistance.
